Marcia Harvey Isaksson & João Orecchia brought together their individual practices on loom and synthesiser, creating sonic and visual patterns intertwined in a multidimensional performance, where the weaver’s actions mirror the emergence of rhythmic sonic landscapes. João’s innovative approach to sound blends technology, field recordings, and traditional instruments, while Marcia’s approach utilises textile techniques to delve into cultural heritage and foster dialogue.

Triggers were placed on different parts of the loom so that the actions of weaving would cause the synthesiser to make sounds, which were manipulated in real time by Orecchia. The roots of this collaboration were formed in July 2022 when João was an artist-in-residence hosted by The Ninevites in collaboration with The Gamleby Photo Grant. The aim of that residency was to provide the artists with space and resources to support their artistic practice, encourage collaboration and enable them to create in a new context.
